DDS Reflects on Labor Day 2021 (Discount Coupon Included)
With the calendar flipping to September, it’s about time to bid farewell to summer and welcome fall. But before we watch the leaves turn yellow and see shops offer pumpkin spice everything, we get to celebrate Labor Day weekend! Labor Day has a different meaning to everyone. To some it means the end of summer and the start of school. It’s the day you have to put away the white pants while to others it just means that they get a long weekend and to some it is a tribute to contributions made by American workers to the growth and development of the country. This year the Labor Day falls on 6th of September, 2021. The days are getting shorter. Are you taking Labor Day weekend off from work? But have you ever wondered how Labor Day came to be?
On 1st May 1886 labor unions in the US decided to go on a strike. They demanded that workers should only work 8 hours a day. The strike was followed by a bomb blast in Chicago’s Haymarket Square on the 4th of May. This incident also popularly known as “Haymarket Affair” made May 1, one of the significant dates in history and was recognized to celebrate and honor the contribution of working men and women. The protests in the U.S. also helped to establish the 8-hour work day in other countries in the world.*
DDS stands with all the workers and labor unions who dedicate their time and effort to building and growing businesses. They are the true forefront runner of the economies of the country. Just like teams are so much more than the sum total of their component parts, DDS is more than the sum of its employees. We believe in giving equal rights and friendly, ethical work environment to our team members and we do regular surveys and take feedbacks and suggestions seriously keeping care of any change they need in the workplace. So this Labor Day, we reflect on the services and sacrifices of the workers throughout the history and spend time with our families in solidarity.
I wish you all a very Happy Labor day!
