DDS Celebrates National Employ Older Workers Week 2021
The US is going through a professional ageism shift that is changing older Americans’ relation to the workplace. National Employ Older Workers Week, is annually celebrated as the ending week of September (September 19th to 25th), recognizing and honoring the significant role of older workers at all workplaces. National Employ Older Workers Week is celebrated with a goal to create awareness of this labor segment and increase innovative ways to tap it.
DDS pays tribute to the older workers and salutes their endless efforts for building a greater America. The economic benefit of elder workers is that it uplifts the economy because people are more likely to have the finances to pay for expenses and taxes. Elder workers are very desirable to the employers as they are considered high in judgment, commitment to quality, attendance, and punctuality.
Here are some ways you can celebrate Older Worker Week:
• Hire an older worker.
• Serve breakfast or lunch to older workers.
• Send flowers/gifts to your older workers.
• Recognize and regard your older workers in your staff meetings, newsletters, blogs, success bulletin boards, etc.
• Post “Thank you, Older Workers” on your marques, signs.
• Post the Older Worker Week poster in your workplace, business, church and community.
• Refer unemployed job seekers age 55+ to your employer or friends for reputed jobs.
We need to do an overhaul of how we think about older workers. DDS believes now is the best time to add older adults in hiring and re-skilling plans. So, let’s make National Employ Older Worker’s Week the start of an ongoing going effort to create an age-inclusive workforce.
