March is Women’s History Month – DDS Speaks

March is Women’s History Month; "Women’s History Month is meant to be a celebration of the often-overlooked contributions of women to culture and society throughout American history. But it is also an opportunity to examine the current state of affairs for women, reflect on the incredible progress that has been made, and re-energize our push towards full equality."*

At DDS, we want to join with WBENC, in celebrating women’s accomplishments in the past even in the face of many difficult factors impacting their progress. We want to live in the moment and encourage our supporters to #BuyWomanOwned. And, we want to promote to the future and plan today for how we can help and support a better future for women entrepreneurs and innovators and all women who strive to make a positive impact in the world.

The COVID-19 pandemic has taken a huge toll on women especially working women and women entrepreneurs**. We want to find ways to support our sisters and build community. We want to promote equality and eliminate gender bias. We want to celebrate women’s achievement. We want parity for women entrepreneurs and in the workplace so that future challenges like this pandemic will not be so negatively impactful on women’s livelihood.

This month, we will post several blogs reminding you to support women business owners and featuring women we admire. Be sure to follow our blogs so you don’t miss out.

6 Marketing Books Every Entrepreneur Should Read

Marketing books are a treasure trove of short, actionable steps you can take to market your company. The takeaway is that to reach seven figures, you’ll need to take a different approach than you’re currently taking, starting with how you see yourself and your relationship with money. You’ll find advice about defining your target audience to effective networking strategies and cold calling tips. To help you prepare for your eventual takeover of the business world, we’ve compiled a list of the 6 best books on entrepreneurs. They’re inspiring, irreverent, and exactly what you need to get motivated.

"The Memo: What Women of Color Need to Secure a Seat at the Table" by Minda Harts
Advice on business and career should not be delivered on a one-size-fits-all basis. Author Minda Harts addresses the realities of women of colour in the workplace in "The Memo," and gives practical suggestions for overcoming the particular problems that women of colour confront at work.

"Company of One" by Paul Jarvis

Although Paul Jarvis’ book is considered a book about entrepreneurship, rather than marketing, it is written to help business owners think about how they operate their companies, including the customers they pursue.

"Jab, Jab, Jab, Right Hook: How to Tell Your Story in a Noisy Social World" by Gary Vaynerchuk

Vaynerchuk outlines how to connect with customers and beat your competition on social media. Social media is a crucial component of building a successful business, and Vaynerchuk’s practical advice shows you how to transform traffic into sales for impressive results.

"Think and Grow Rich", by Napoleon Hill

Think and Grow Rich was published during the Great Depression and still endures. Napoleon Hill interviewed “more than five hundred of the most successful men this country has ever known” to suss out the universal building blocks required to amass a fortune.
In this read, author Tiffany Dufu shares how to redefine expectations, and take on less to create more space for success. Drop the Ball is an engaging read for anyone who is struggling with overwhelm, and needs a little extra help focusing on the right goals.
This book was an answer to the worldwide attention received by Sandberg’s 2010 TED Talk in which she reinvigorated the conversation about women in the workplace. Packed with personal anecdotes, data, and practical advice on how to build a satisfying career.

DDS Takes Times to Reflect on Memorial Day 2022

Memorial Day weekend is just around the corner, so fire up the grills, get your flags out, and put on some sunscreen! All of these festive indicators are certain to have you excited for the holidays. After all, the long weekend often kicks off summer cookouts and provides an opportunity to relax and unwind with friends and family at the beach. Memorial Day weekend is about far more than get togethers, barbecues, and families. That Monday is a solemn day dedicated to commemorating and appreciating the millions of Americans who have served in uniform and sacrificed their lives for their nation. The true essence of Memorial Day is to honor those brave women and men who made extraordinary sacrifices.

We believe there is nothing nobler than risking your life for your country, DDS pays tribute to our heroes this Memorial Day with utmost respect and gratitude. This Memorial Day, DDS remembers our President, Ebitari Larsen’s beloved father-in-law who served in the U.S. Navy dedicating his life to the nation.

In memory of Navy Serviceman, Dwight Larsen, pictured with Ebitari Larsen.

Memorial Day Message from Ebitari Larsen

Ebi in honor of those who have given their lives for our country, liberty and freedoms, she asks that we remember them by caring for all God’s children and not just the ones in our own vehicles. We need to slow down in our driving and not just care about the children safely buckled up in their car seats inside our cars. We need to care about the ones outside our car, running around in the park, in the school yard, or in their front lawn … all God’s children …, not just mine, but all. If we can care for all children, then perhaps we can forget our differences a little and look out for all our children and focus on the children instead of our differences … and certainly drive a little slower in the neighborhoods, around parks and schools.

On Memorial Day, at 3 p.m. local time, a nationwide minute of silence is held to honor the war dead. This is the day we pay homage to all those who didn’t come home. To honor Memorial’s day DDS is offering an exclusive 15% discount on all services valid from May 27 – June 15. Laserfiche: The Best Management Tool for Non-Profits

While most software development companies partner with ace and for-profit organizations, Laserfiche has a history of collaborating with the non-profits and helping them scale and leverage their operations and keep transparency. Laserfiche is considered the #1 choice of non-profits for automation of the business processes. It has enabled NGOs and non-profit organizations to go paperless, have smooth workflow and made it easier to update the records.

Today, we will be highlighting the work Laserfiche has done for the non-profits that has helped them evolve technologically, declutter the paperwork and spread positivity.

Laserfiche Standardized Human Resources at Arkansas Support Network

The Arkansas Support Network (ASN) is a non-profit organization that helps provide services to the disabled and support their families. 15 years ago ASN purchased Laserfiche to help archive the documents, later added Laserfiche Workflow and Laserfiche Forms. Today, at ASN, a 5 person human resources department manages 750 employees in the state of Arkansas. This happened with the help of Laserfiche Forms which helped track and speed up hiring procedure also automating payroll. Now employees are paid quickly and all audits are streamlined.

“Laserfiche Forms led us to the revelation that the only way you’ll go paperless is if you start paperless.”

–Syard Evans, CEO, Arkansas Support Network.

Laserfiche ECM Helped Heifer International Scale Up to End World Hunger

According to Chief Financial Officer, Bob Bloom, the goal of Heifer International is to take millions of families out of poverty and empower women farmers. In 2014, Heifer selected Laserfiche for business automation to review thousands of contracts pending review and make the content accessible to entire staff at all locations. Incorporating Laserfiche into the management system also fast paced the transfer of offline information from remote locations to headquarter back and forth. Laserfiche ECM provided electronic forms and robust workflow automation solutions that helped contract management processes

“Our vision for Laserfiche is to allow all of our field workers, regardless of which country they are in, to be able to interact with documents, find records and submit forms—all from their mobile devices,”

     Cedric Lambert, IT Director, Heifer

Laserfiche Automated Case Management for Low-Income Energy Assistance

Community Action Partnership is a non-profit that provides low-income home energy assistance program to the residents in Minnesota’s Ramsey and Washington Counties, The aid is given to residents struggling to access basic heating and utilities. Cabinets were stored with over 25,000 active applications and quick provision of help to the deserving applicant was the need of the hour. So Laserfiche was introduced in the system to

accelerate application process (document filing, routing and approval). New Case Management Process by Laserfiche streamlined auditing and security and also standardized record archival.

August is National Black Business Month 2022

August is Black Business Month 2022

Black businesses account for almost 10% of U.S. businesses and about 30% of minority-owned businesses. DDS Stands with Black Women on Black Women’s Equal Pay Day

Black Women’s Equal Pay Day marks how far into the new year black women had to work to earn what white men made in the year prior—getting paid just 63 cents for every dollar paid to white men*. This gender-based racial wage gap hurts all black and other women of color, and this needs to be fixed. But this year just like previous year, we’re sounding the alarm for the millions of Latinas and Black women who have suffered in pandemic and an unfair system that’s failed them for generations.

DDS wants to raise their corporate voice this August 3 to join the black women in getting their rightful paychecks. Black women are strong independent women that are no less than white women or white men, They are highly educated and competitive and serving on high authority jobs. The current Covid-19 situation has increased the pay disparities which is already deeply rooted U.S. society. Apart from the wage gap, black women are handling both domestic responsibilities as well as working extra hours at work. This wage disparity impacts their spending power and creates gaps in Social Security and pensions. DDS stands with these hardworking and diligent women and there’s no reason in paying them less than their white counterparts when these high-performing women are leaders.

Its high time we challenge the legal, racial, and cultural barriers that have allowed the gender wage gap to persist. Companies and organizations need to understand the fact that employees who are paid equally and on fair basis are more committed than those who are unequally paid. Black women form about 13% of total population of women in the US and their fight for equal rights seem to unending.

This year DDS stands in solidarity with Black community and urge everybody to take the stand and come out of any remaining sexist and racist corporate systems in harmony for a better and united future. Let’s get together on Black Women’s Equal Pay Day and stand up for ourselves.

Ebitari Celebrates History-Making, Vice-President Elect Kamala Harris

    VP Elect Kamala Harris
    Vice President Elect Kamala Harris

Ebitari Larsen, President of Delta Data Services, is so delighted to celebrate the history-making of Vice President Elect, Kamala Harris. What a wonderful story Vice President elect Harris has of being of Jamaican and South Indian descent, yet being born and raised in the United States and thriving in this nation until her recent history-making election as the first woman, Black, Indian descent and so many other less known firsts to be voted to this high office in the United States government.

I am so moved, excited, hopeful, and proud beyond words to see someone who looks a lot more like me than others have, who will be moving onto the United States government high stage and leading this great nation.

Here are some of the excerpts from Vice President Elect Harris’ speech accepting the election results on Saturday, November 7th, that have moved me so deeply:

"The generations of women, Black women, Asian, White, Latina, Native American women who throughout our nation’s history have paved the way for this moment tonight. Women who fought and sacrificed so much for equality and liberty and justice for all. Including the black women who are often, too often overlooked but so often prove they are the backbone of our democracy.  All the women who have worked to secure and protect the right to protect the right to vote for over a century.

And while I may be the first woman in this office, I will not be the last.

And to the children of our country, regardless of your gender. Our country has sent you a clear message.

    Dream with ambition

    Lead with conviction

And see yourselves in a way that others may not, simply because they’ve never seen it before. And know that we will applaud you every step of the way."

Wow, these are long overdue yet exciting times. I am so very inspired.
