March 2021 COVID-19 Pandemic Message – Seeing the Light

Greeting to all our supporters in March 2021. It’s been almost a year since I wrote at the beginning of the pandemic in 2020 and the wonderful reality is that we are starting to see the light at the end of the COVID-19 tunnel. There has been so much suffering and loss during this pandemic – from family and friends dying (over 500,000 in the US now***) to women being disproportionately impacted by the pandemic in terms of their work losses and other family-related impacts.*

But now, people are getting vaccinated and lots of them. In Long Beach, health care and emergency workers, teachers, food and grocery workers are vaccinated and people over 65 are  being vaccinated right now as well as people 16 to 64 with disabilities**. With the vaccine comes hope and optimism again. My sons just had his 10th birthday and people are really ready to get together again. His friends and their families, wore masks and hung out outside and everyone seemed to be breathing out in relief.

My daughter talked me into making a balloon arch for my son’s birthday parade. It was the first balloon arch I had made and I went for it with gusto wanting to make my son’s 10th birthday memorable even in light of the pandemic. What the arch reminded me of was just this hopefulness that is coming back into the air.

I’m sending you lots of encouragement and comfort during this time. Let’s all go ‘through’ the pain and feel the real pain of the devastation of this pandemic. At the same time, Easter is round the corner, people are getting vaccinated and a new world is developing. Let’s allow ourselves to be relieved and breathe ‘out’ and feel the hope.

Thinking of you and wishing you all the best during this difficult time.

October is National Women Small Business Month 2021

Who runs the world? Girls!!!

October is here and we are all in the feel of the month as it brings and kickstarts so many events. But before we go celebrate them, we need to honor October as National Women Small Business month. October is National Women’s Small Business Month, which means it’s time to celebrate women-owned businesses everywhere, as well as the extraordinary development female small to medium sized entrepreneurs have made over the years. In the US, women own 42% of businesses generating $1.9 trillion annually, out of which 50% are women of color.* This clearly shows how women of all ethnicities are progressing and we are here to support the small business women.

Supporting women in small businesses also motivates young women in different ways. When they see other women succeeding, they’re inspired to do the same. A woman’s journey is complicated than a man’s journey. She has battles to face, storms to cross, oceans to swim and what not? Delta Data Services is a woman-owned and women-led organization which boasts a team of talented women. Our president, Ebitari Larsen proudly supports and encourages female entrepreneurs to come forth and be a leader in their industry.

Creative ways to celebrate and support female entrepreneurship:

– Share women leadership stories with your team and exciting facts about women in business.

– Get certified as a woman-owned business.

– Volunteer or become a mentor.

– Invest and donate to help women in business.

– Network with other women in business

We bring you #BuyWomenOwned Fall Campaign by Women Owned to boost support for women-owned businesses. You can access free Media Kit here full of shareable resources. Join the campaign and help spread the word for a powerful and successful woman!

DDS Celebrates Black History Month 2022

Black History Month 2022

Wouldn’t it be wonderful when Black history and Native American history and Jewish history and all of U.S. history is taught from one book. Just U.S. history
Maya Angelou

There is no American history without African American history. Every year in February, the U.S. honors the contributions and sacrifices of African Americans who have shaped the culture and history of the U.S. Black History Month celebrates the rich ethnic heritage, successes and adversities that are an unforgettable part of our country’s history. 46.8 million people in the U.S. identify as Black. The Black population of the U.S is diverse. The black people have devoted histories in the nation – many are descendants of enslaved people, while others are recently settled immigrants. February is a month when we celebrate them all regardless of the varied history.

You can celebrate and honor Black History Month 2022 in the following ways:

Visit a Black or African American history museum
Learn about Black music history
Support Black-owned businesses
Donate to Black organizations and charities
Attend local Black History Month events
Watch Black history documentaries
Find Black authors and stories to read

DDS is proud of the dedicated black leaders that have made America a multi-racial, ethnic and powerful country with their activism, hard work and consistency. This year we pay tribute to the leading black people of this century like Barack Obama and Meghan Markle who have taken over the modern world leadership and abolished racism with dignity and love. Our President, Ebitari Larsen is a proud black woman who believes in diversity and inclusion. Over the years she has been an exponent of equal rights, freedom, black community and diverse culture and it would not be wrong to say these are the kind of strong glorious black women, America needs today. Today, we salute all the legendary black activists who freed the nation from the shackles of injustice and racism. We are all dreamers and dreams do come true.

Every great dream begins with a dreamer.

The Best and Must Social Media Platforms for Your Business

Every month, a new social media channel pops up to involve the users with new features and give way for brands to launch their social media presence. It gets perplexed. If you need to create a TikTok account? or Reddit? Would Twitter Spaces work for your business? Businesses would be eager to be active on all the available social media channels but is that a valuable and actionable way to proceed?

You need to consider several factors for content preparation and social goals.

1. Facebook

Number of monthly users: 2.89 billion

Demographics: Men and women, ages 18-65 or older
Facebook provides you the opportunity to create a community out of your client base. On Facebook, brief postings like pictures, quizzes, videos, and competitions do incredibly well. You may notify your followers by sending them text updates as well.

2. Twitter

Number of monthly users: 4.48 billion

Demographics: Men and women, ages 18-49
Every business in the world has an account on Twitter to update its customers, and it receives millions of active users each month. This business-focused social network may not have the same widespread user base as Facebook, but it is undoubtedly one of the most open networks on the world.

3. Instagram
Number of monthly users: 1+ billion
Demographics: Men and women, ages 18-64
With a majority of its users under 25, Instagram is one of the newest social media platforms available. It is therefore the ideal social network for businesses or brands that cater to young, trendy clientele. On Instagram, images and brief videos with sparse text do incredibly well.

4. LinkedIn
Number of monthly users: 310+ million
Demographics: Men and women, ages 25-64
LinkedIn is the most professional social network available. It has a large professional network of employees and company owners, making it far more formal than other social media sites. Because of this, its users react to B2B material more
favorably than B2C content.

5. YouTube
Number of monthly users: 2+ billion
Demographics: Men and women, ages 18-65 and older
When you’re launching tutorials for your target market, YouTube works really well for product reviews, instructional videos, and other similar types. Additionally, after you upload a video, it will begin to appear in search results on Google and YouTube, and you may promote it on your other social media profiles.

International Women’s Month is a time to honor – globally – all the motivational  and uplifting efforts marking the acknowledgement of women. Celebrated annually in March, International Women’s Month is one of the most important months of the year to:

  • cherish women’s success

  • lobby for accelerated gender parity
  • fundraise for female-focused charities

For 2022, the theme for International Women’s Month 2022 is #BreakTheBias. Let’s take a moment and appreciate these rock-solid women who fought for gender equality and to #BreakTheBias.

Pink October: Breast Cancer Awareness Month 2021

Breast cancer is such a scary and prevalent disease that all of us can relate to knowing someone either closely or distantly related who has survived and in some cases succumbed to breast cancer. This is such a scary and impactful disease and we at DDS, pray that breast cancer will be eradicated in our lifetime. Out President, Ebitari Larsen, has participated with the Orange County Breast Cancer Angels to do fundraising for research for a cure and raise awareness of the early symptoms of breast cancer so that we can eradicate it in the world.

According to the World Health Organization (WHO), breast cancer is the second most common cancer in the world and the most common cancer in women worldwide, accounting for 25% of all incident cases of female cancers.* October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, that’s why you’re probably seeing a lot of pink awareness ribbons this month for an annual campaign to raise awareness about the impact of breast cancer. Covid-19 has posed a challenge to just about everything, and breast cancer awareness is no exception. DDS stands with all the brave women out there who are battling Breast Cancer and staying strong. We urge you to keep checking the affected ones by breast cancer, this month. See how they are recovering with the constant reminders and support. Let’s take a look at the symptoms and risk factors.

Symptoms::

  • Change in the size or the shape of the breast.
  • Pain in any area of the breast.
  • Nipple discharge other than breast milk (including blood).
  • A new lump in the breast or underarm.

If you have any signs that worry you, see your doctor right away.

Risk Factors:

  • Being a woman
  • Being older. Most breast cancers are found in women who are 50 years or older

Together we can fight this. Those diagnosed yesterday or years ago or those suffering from different stages of Breast Cancer and those consistently thinking about their loved ones as well as those waiting for their symptoms to not be breast cancer we stand with all of them. This month come your homes and get screened and seek medical attention, if a suspicious lump is detected. As people come together for Breast Cancer Awareness Month worldwide, we need to continue public health awareness programs and fundraisers, facilitate the breast cancer screening/detection process, and honor those who have won against this disease.

A Veteran’s Day Dedicated to the Memory of Ebitari’s Father-in-Law, Dwight

Navy Serviceman, Dwight Larsen and Ebitari Larsen
In memory of Navy Serviceman, Dwight Larsen, pictured with Ebitari Larsen.

This Veteran’s Day, Ebitari wants to acknowledge all our United States military service men and women who keep us safe, protecting our freedoms and who put peace as the number one priority for our nation and the world. To each and every service member, I want to say, ‘Thank you’.

This year, I also remember fondly, my favorite United States service man, my father-in-law, Dwight Larsen. He passed away, aptly, on September 11th, 2019. My husband and our entire family miss him greatly. Dwight served in the United States Navy during the Korean War. He was an officer and a gentleman, a devoted husband, dedicated father, and lover of God and what God loves; being justice, kindness, compassion and mercy.

This Veteran’s Day period, I wish all the military service men and women a time or rest and relaxation, from a grateful person, like me, and a grateful nation.

"I’m really sorry for the loss of those who have lost their loved ones.

That is a devastating loss which can’t be put into words.

Sending blessings to your family’s angel.

She is watching over you all now.
Amen."

– Ebitari Larsen, President DDS

Every month delay in cancer treatment can raise risk of death by around 10%

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, which is a worldwide annual campaign to increase awareness and to promote regular screening and early detection of breast cancer. Breast Cancer Awareness Month, also known as Pink Month, is held each year throughout the month of October. Every year, countries around the world participate in the annual campaign to educate those affected by the disease by increasing awareness of early identification, signs and symptoms.

We at DDS is a diverse team of energetic women hailing from various ethnicities and cultures. We  highly recommend annual mammograms at the recommended age.  We notice not enough diverse women in the Mammogram clinics. It is high time we need to take our heaths seriously and we are here to encourage all women from all walks of life to take this preventative step (as annual physical checkups).

It’s also important for women to focus on total health. Physical and Mental health are intimately tied together.  Don’t sacrifice one for another:
Mental Health:
-Start with connection to source – meditate to receive, pray to give
-Slow down, breath, return to present – mindfulness. Ground yourself; walk barefoot in nature.
-One day at a time, one step at a time
-Boundaries and community, keep true supports close,  everyone is outside the circle
-Self care, be your own best friend, treat yourself better than anyone else can; spoil yourself. You first. Number 1.
-Therapy, coaching, medication
Physical Health:
-Healthy diet
-Exercise
-Physical therapy when needed
What could be a better time to show solidarity and help out the foundations who are fundraising for the Breast Cancer treatment. Below are the Californian non-profit NGOs that are dedicated to fight with this monster.
